I’m Mary Lynn,

I began my career as a teaching assistant in the English Department at the University of Calgary. After graduation, I spearheaded the formation of a communications department for an intermediate oil and gas company, Morrison Petroleum Ltd. Four years later, I started Strong Point Communications Inc. where I managed all B2B marketing for a group of resource-based and technology companies.

Fast-forward to 2000, and I stayed home for a decade to raise my family of four boys. During those years, I volunteered extensively at their schools and in my community. One memorable project was a fundraising campaign for a Canadian NGO, Heathy Child Uganda, that decreased infant mortality in rural communities by 40%.

In 2012, I returned to work and became a partner in an innovative therapeutic clinic. I entered a Creative Work program for artists in 2018 that inspired my return to graduate school. Since then, I have earned a Graduate Certificate from the Humber School of Writing (2020), and my Master of Arts, Creative and Critical Writing with Merit (2022) from the University of Gloucestershire.

I am an avid adventurer and health and fitness advocate. I love to travel and spend my time hiking, running, skiing, and golfing, and have been a yoga teacher for years. My sons are grown now, and I’ve recently become a grandmother. I am also a professional author known as the Wild Rose Writer.
